To control your life, therefore, control your mind. To control your mind, control your breath.
One of the most effective means of controlling both is through breath meditation. This is done by simply focusing on your breathing. As you breathe in and out, focus only on your in-breath and on your out-breath.
If other thoughts arise, pay them no mind, as you would ignore a television playing in the background. With regular practice, you will find that your mind becomes less distracted, and falls more and more under your conscious control.
Once you achieve this, you can focus on your goals and on the attainment of your dreams, free from the distractions of others’ dramas, your own, and seemingly negative circumstances.
You also avoid the lack of direction an undisciplined mind imposes when it has you running first after one desire, only to give it up when the next one comes along, leaving you with nothing in the end.
